The Lansing Community College softball season ends at the NJCAA World Series

LCC's softball teams will meet at the NJCAA Division II World Series on Wednesday in Spartansburg, South Carolina.

Lansing Community College’s stellar softball season ended Wednesday night with an 8-0 loss to South Mountain (Arizona) Community College at the NJCAA Division II World Series in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The 12th-seeded Stars, who finished the season 35-20 (and 1-2 in the World Series), managed just three hits against No. 3 seed South Mountain, putting the game away with two runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth to enforce the eight-run mercy rule.

The loss came hours after LCC’s dramatic elimination game win, 7-6 over 13-seed Delaware Tech, extended the Stars’ season into Wednesday night.

This was LCC softball’s first World Series appearance in five years, since making it three straight seasons from 2016-2018.
