Poclain machines, dump trucks confiscated

Mohali: Police seized a poclain machine and two dump trucks involved in mining in the Sohana area around 6pm on Saturday. Sohana Police Station has registered a case under the Mining Act. The complainant, Mining Inspector Hardeep Singh, said that when they visited the site, they found a Poclain machine and two dump trucks mining illegally. The suspects fled the scene as soon as they saw them, leaving behind their vehicle. TNS

Mohali: Local golfer Gairat Kahlon wins the final leg of the US Kids Tour Championship at Classic Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon. She birdied two of the nine holes and held her composure to hold a one-shot lead over her closest competitor. Meanwhile, her sister Rabab Karen finished second in the same race after losing by one stroke in a close battle. She bogeyed the 18th hole, which cost her the final. Rabab and Gairat are students of Manav Rachna International School in Mohali. TNS

Radhika Golf Championship

Chandigarh: Radhika (119 points) became the overall winner of the NRI Golf Championships. The three-day tournament kicks off at Chandigarh Golf Club, with the second day’s tee-off at Forest Hills Golf and Country Club. The final round was held on December 17 at Forest Hills Resort. Up to 50 golfers are taking part in the NRI Golf Championship 2022. TNS

Sec 32 school boxers shine

Chandigarh: Boxers from PML SD Public School District 32 won 24 medals in the Boys and Girls Interschool Boxing Championships (U-14, 17 and 19). School boxers won nine golds, eight silvers and seven bronzes. Both the boys and girls teams were declared the overall champions of the program. TNS

Cricket tryout tomorrow at Mohali

Mohali: The Mohali Cricket Association, which is part of the Punjab Cricket Association, will organize a tryout for the U-15 team at the Satya Cricket School in Sector 66 on December 19 (1pm). The selected teams will compete in the Trident Cup U-15 2022. Players born on or after September 1, 2007 will be eligible for tryouts. Players who were born, lived in Mohali District one year before the competition and studied continuously for one year are eligible to participate in the selection competition. TNS

181 teams take part in two-day event

Mohali: The two-day second phase of the 17th “Baja SAEIndia” kicked off at Chitkara University. As many as 181 teams from all over the country participated in the event. The event features two types of vehicles – the mBAJA for internal combustion engine powered strollers and the eBAJA for electric drivetrains.
