Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has launched a collision mitigation system for the company’s wheel loaders as part of its vision of zero accidents

The first system consists of a automatic circuit breaker This will support the operator’s response when reversing and help reduce the risk of collision; when the wheel loader approaches any obstacle, it will alert the operator to take further action.
The Volvo Group is committed to worksite safety and its Zero Accident Vision Implementing an ideology conveyed not only through its products but also through its operations. The system is not designed to replace safe operator behavior, but is an intelligent tool that further enhances job site safety.
The tool works by identifying when there is a risk of collision and responding automatically Rest for 2-3 seconds before impact. For storage operations, the system remembers the last slope the loader climbed without the operator having to activate it.
This technology is designed for wheel loaders reversing and driving at speeds of 3-15 km/h. Assistance systems cannot completely eliminate accidents, which is why Volvo CE sees safe operator behavior as such an issue.
Lars Eriksson, Global Product Manager Wheel Loaders, Volvo CEsaid, “We at Volvo CE continue to actively develop smart solutions that not only mitigate the consequences of accidents, but also work to avoid them altogether. This new collision mitigation system is part of our effort to reduce the risk of accidents and help fulfill our An important part of the work on our commitment to zero accidents.”
