VIJAYAWADA: Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a separate road accident in NTR district on Saturday.
A 50-year-old woman, Sampurnamma, was overtaking on a national road near Krishna Lanka in Vijayawada when she collided with a truck and her son Vishnu was injured died.
The incident happened around 5am when the pair were traveling from Hyderabad to Nasipatnam. Police rushed to the scene and transferred the injured to Vijayawada General Hospital for treatment. An autopsy was performed on Sampurnamma’s body. The case has been registered as accidental death and an investigation is ongoing.
In another incident, a 35-year-old man, E Suresh, died from his injuries after he hit a moving tractor near the town of Thiruvuru.
Police said Suresh and his wife were reportedly on their way to the town of Thiruvur on a motorcycle when Suresh lost control of the vehicle while turning a corner. Padma’s statement has been recorded and a case will be opened accordingly, police said.
