Initial reports from officials indicated that both trucks were parked on the shoulder of southbound Interstate 5, causing significant delays in the area. Lane 3 on southbound I-5 was closed for several hours while CHP traffic officials investigated. Drivers were asked to avoid the area while crews cleared the scene.

What to know about truck accident cases

Stockton, California, has busy highways and intersections, which means drivers may be faced with sharing the road with many commercial truck drivers. The section of Interstate 5 through Stockton has had its fair share of accidents. Safety should be the number one priority for all drivers on the road. Due to the overwhelming size, weight and momentum of large rigs, truck drivers must hold themselves to even higher standards. Any thoughtlessness or indifference can endanger the safety of others and, in some extreme cases, lead to catastrophic crashes with serious injuries or even death.

Like other types of motor vehicle crashes, large rig accidents are preventable in most cases. Truck drivers are constantly under pressure to deliver goods on time due to demanding consumers and tight deadlines. Trucking accidents are often the result of driver error, fatigue, distracted driving, failure to observe Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, speeding, and more. Collisions involving commercial trucks can be complicated due to applicable state and federal laws, not to mention difficult for insurers to downplay or deny claims.

Getting involved in truck crashes is challenging enough. After such an accident, you may find yourself dealing with vehicle repair costs and medical bills related to minor to severe accident-related injuries. You may face a long road to recovery, and rebuilding your life may be difficult, especially if the event was caused by someone else’s negligence. By working with a legal team focused on helping people injured in accidents, you can focus on recovery and getting your life back on track while your accident attorney handles every aspect of your case from start to finish.
