A baby boy who died in a “blamelessly tragic accident” is being remembered as a blue-eyed cherub whose cheeky smile melted everyone he encountered as his heartbreaking final moments were revealed a person’s heart.
Cooper, who just celebrated his first birthday last month, suffered serious brain injuries when he was run over by a car on Monday on a private property in Thabeban, near Bundaberg in central Queensland, on Monday.
The little boy was taken to Bundaberg Hospital before being airlifted to the Neurological Intensive Care Unit at Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.
Despite the best efforts of doctors and nurses, Cooper tragically lost his brave fight for life the next day, surrounded by his broken parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
“Rest in peace my angel,” his mother wrote on Facebook.

A relative remembered Cooper as a beautiful baby in a heartbreaking Facebook post.
An online fundraiser started by another relative suggested Cooper had his whole life waiting for him when his final moments were revealed.
“The fact that he fought so hard is a testament to how strong and resilient our little angel is,” the page reads.
“A tragic accident beyond reproach has happened, it is the result of every parent’s worst nightmare and it has and will affect our entire family and anyone who was lucky enough to meet him and see him for the rest of our lives. The one with the cheeky smile.”
