KOCHI: Three people were killed in three separate traffic accidents in Kochi Saturday night. The first incident occurred at around 7pm when Rajesh Kumar NA, 38, from Seethathodu, Pathanamthitta, was traveling from Pallimukal to Peringala on a motorbike.
A car coming from the opposite direction hit Rajesh’s motorcycle. Although he was rushed to Samaritan Hospital, he died from his injuries. A case has been registered against the driver of the car at the Ambalamedu police station.
The second accident happened around 11pm when 60-year-old Kumbalam native Babu PK was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a car near the Kamoth Temple. Panangad police have registered the driver of the car. In the third incident, 26-year-old Nimya Das from Kayamkulam died after being run over by a truck in Chittethukkara on the Seaport-Airport road at around 11.20pm.
According to the police, the motorcycle the deceased was riding on was hit by an oncoming car. Nemea fell to the road from the impact of the collision and was run over by a dump truck. Thrikkakara police have opened a case. The remains of the deceased were handed over to relatives following an autopsy on Sunday.
