A New Hampshire teenager has died after a skiing accident at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Guildford. Guilford High Principal Anthony Sperazzo sent a message to members of the school community on Tuesday morning that the victim, Sydnie Quimby, was a freshman at Guilford High. Quimby was 15 at the time, according to officials. “This is a sad loss for our community,” Sperazzo wrote. “We are working hard to support our students, staff and families,” Guildford Fire Chief Stephen Carrier said the incident happened just after noon on Monday. An ambulance and an engine rushed to the scene. “Ski Patrol came across a patient with serious injuries, including a head injury,” Carrier said. “The patient was taken to Laconia Hospital and then transferred to Dartmouth,” said Tom Day, president and general manager of Gunstock Mountain Resort, where witnesses said Quimby left Dellinger while skiing Trail hurt. Initially, some of the skiing public took comfort until the Gunstock Ski Patrol arrived on the scene shortly afterward,” Day said. “To us, this is a sad event. Our hearts are with the family. It’s been a tough time for them and the Gunstock family. School district officials said students were notified Tuesday morning. Counseling services are available for students who need them, they said.

According to witnesses, Quimby was skiing when he left the Derringer Trail injured, said Tom Day, president and general manager of Gunstock Mountain Resort.
“She was initially comforted by some of the skiing public until the Gunstock Ski Patrol arrived on the scene not long afterward,” Day said. “This is a sad event for us. Our hearts go out to the family. This is a difficult time for them and the Gunstock family.”
District officials said the students were notified Tuesday morning. Counseling services are available for students who need them, they said.
