Man suspected of DWI crashes into SAPD SUV at scene of accident

Deputies are trying to reposition their vehicles to avoid being hit when a pickup truck crashes into the back of an officer’s SUV.

SAN ANTONIO — A pickup truck driver is under investigation for driving while intoxicated after he crashed into a San Antonio police vehicle that was blocking traffic in an earlier incident.

It happened around 1:15 a.m. Sunday on I-10 northwest of downtown.

A pickup truck crashed into the back of an officer’s SUV as officers tried to reposition their vehicle to avoid being hit.

Thankfully, the officer was not injured in the crash, but the pickup truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver is currently under investigation for drink driving, police said.

No other injuries were reported, and no other information was provided.

Those involved in the initial accident were not injured.
