Six Freedom Fighters Died in Traffic Accidents

At least six people, including a peshmerga, were killed in four separate traffic accidents in Madaripur, Gazipur and Manikganj.

A peshmerga was killed and two others were injured in a traffic accident in Samityrhat district under Kalkini upazila in Madaripur on Saturday afternoon, Sambadsanta, Bangladesh reported.

The late freedom fighter Mamun al-Rashid, 70, was a resident of Kalai-Sardarerchar village under the Kalkini upazila in the area.

The motorcycle that Imran Khan and Tofazel were traveling in collided with peshmerga Mamun al-Rashid at around 1:30 p.m. when the accident occurred. Fazel was seriously injured, Karkini police chief Shamim Hussain said at the station.

The injured were taken to Kalkini Upazila Health Complex and then to Madaripur Sadar Hospital for better treatment.

The son of the deceased filed a complaint under the Road Transport Act, the OC said, adding that they arrested two people in connection therewith.

The New Times reporter based in Ghazipur reported that four people were killed in two separate traffic accidents on Friday.

Two people were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a bus at Teknog Para near the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at around 11pm in Gazipur city.

Two other people were killed when a truck fled after hitting their auto rickshaw in the Nawjor area of ​​the Dhaka-Tangail highway at around 6:00 pm.

The dead were Jakir Hossain, 24, of Nandail upazila in Mymensingh and Abu Tayeb Moon, 23, of Gouripur upazila in the same district, while the other dead were not immediately identified.

Investigating officer Jahangir Alam of the Ghazipur Metropolitan Police said both Jakir and Moon fell under the wheels of the bus during the incident and died at the scene.

GMP’s Deputy Inspector Mohammad Farooq Hussain said the other two died at the scene and the identities of the victims were not yet known.

The four bodies were sent to the mortuary of Shahid Dajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy and legal action is ongoing.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed near Manora area under sadar upazila in Manikganj on the Dhaka-Ariza highway on Saturday, BSS reported.

The deceased was identified as Md Rawshan Jahan Jhantu, 51 years old, son of Md Nasir uddin from Paharpur village under Kumarkhali upazila, Kushtia district.

Manikganj Sadar police chief said the accident happened around 10.15am when a speeding truck headed for Dhaka knocked down the motorcycle from behind, killing the motorcyclist at the scene.

Police impounded the truck and motorcycle, but the truck driver managed to flee the scene.

The body was taken to Manikganj Sadar Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

In this regard, Manikganj Sadar Police Station received a case.
