Simon Cowell admits he’s “really crazy” when he still rides his e-bike without a helmet after multiple accidents.
When asked Thursday at the Broadway opening of “With Juliet” whether he protected his head, the “American Idol” alum told Page Six, “Not yet, but I will.”
Cowell’s fiancée, Lauren Silverman, chimed in, admitting she “hopes[s] He will wear a helmet. “
The “X Factor” creator went on to explain why he continued to use the device that nearly crippled him in August 2020.
“I need to stay fit, and I don’t like walking,” Cowell said, noting he wouldn’t be using a regular bike because it’s harder to handle the steeper hills.
“I’m out there almost every day,” he continued. “I work out.”
Cowell broke his back in three places two years ago while riding a $20,000 bike outside his Malibu mansion.
After the accident, the record executive underwent six hours of spinal repair surgery, in which doctors inserted a metal rod into his back.
Cowell suffered another bike accident earlier this year that resulted in a broken arm.
“I’m kind of crazy,” he told the Daily Mail in February. “Next time I will definitely wear a helmet.”
In addition to exercising regularly, Cowell maintains his appearance with Botox injections.
Syco’s founder has previously said he had the surgery because it left him looking unrecognizable “like something out of a horror movie”.
“I cut it down, let’s put it this way,” he shared with Page Six on Thursday. “Everything in moderation.”
Other notables attending the musical, which features Max Martin’s music, include Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, Leah DeLaria, “Schitt’s Creek” star Anne Murphy and dancer Julianne Hough.
