Rishabh Pant issued a statement on Twitter after the crash, thanking fans, BCCI and medical team for their support.
In the early hours of December 30, Pant was involved in a traffic accident while driving from Roorkee to New Delhi.
Witnesses and video that later surfaced showed Panter’s car on fire, but he was able to escape. The BCCI confirmed that the left-hander sustained injuries to his head, back and feet. He suffered two cuts to his forehead, torn ligaments in his right knee, injuries to his right wrist, ankle, toe and abrasions on his back.
BCCI then arranged for Pant to be transferred from Dehradun to Mumbai for further treatment.
The latest news is that Pant will undergo surgery and follow-up surgery for the torn ligament he suffered and will be monitored by the BCCI medical team.
“The board will do everything it can to help and expedite Rishabh’s recovery process and will provide him with all the support he needs during this time,” the statement said.
