Icy road conditions in Platte County led to multiple crashes on Dec. 8, according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.
In a Dec. 9 news release, the sheriff’s office reported that it received its first call related to icing conditions on Dec. 8 at 1:41 p.m. This was an accident, no injuries reported, that occurred near the intersection of 48th Avenue and Hillcrest Drive, north of Columbus.
At 1:47 p.m., deputies responded to a possible injury in front of Behlen Mfg. Co. on Highway 30. While the vehicle was severely damaged, neither the driver nor passengers were injured in the accident.
At 1:56 p.m., we contacted the sheriff’s office regarding an incident at the intersection of the 81 and 22 freeways. The Nebraska Patrol assisted with the incident.

At 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to possible injuries near the intersection of East 8th Street and East 32nd Avenue. The vehicle did roll over during the crash, but neither the driver nor the minor passenger were injured in the crash.
At 3:54 p.m., deputies responded to an incident west of the intersection of East 8th Street and East 44th Avenue involving a semitrailer that flipped over during the crash.
At 5:02 p.m., deputies responded to a car in a ditch near the intersection of East 8th Street and East 44th Avenue. A tow truck towed the vehicle from the ditch.
Delegates were involved in an incident at 5:20 p.m. on Route 81 near NE 325th Street at the Pratt Center. No one was injured. The vehicle rolled over during the crash, and the driver was arrested and taken to the Platte County Detention Center on a charge of driving without a license.
Deputies responded to an uninjured incident in Columbus on 10th Avenue near the Ag Park entrance at 5:48 p.m. The accident did not cause any damage to vehicles or property.
At 6:55 p.m., the deputies were involved in a non-injured incident near 205th Street and 340th Avenue NW in Duncan. The car also overturned during the crash. The driver was not injured, but he was arrested and taken to the Platte County Detention Center on a first-time DUI charge and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
