Authorities have identified the victims of a fatal construction accident in Omaha Wednesday. According to Omaha police, construction workers attempted to connect two pipelines on the side of the road near 150th Street and Wycliffe Avenue around 11:34 a.m. A backhoe fell off and landed on top of a worker, identified as Tracy Basley, 56, authorities said. When police arrived, Basley was sprawled on the ground and appeared not to be breathing, had a pulse or was alert. Police report. Omaha police said an officer began CPR after arriving at the scene. Paramedics transported Basley, who was in critical condition, to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A bucket attached to the excavator fell off and landed on a worker, identified as Tracy Baslee, 56, authorities said.
When officers arrived, Baslee was sprawled on the ground and appeared not to be breathing, had a pulse or was alert, according to a police report.
Omaha police said an officer began CPR after arriving at the scene.
Paramedics rushed Basley, who was in critical condition, to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Basley’s death was ruled accidental, according to the police report.
