SAN ANTONIO — A sheriff’s deputy died in an accident while off duty, the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Deputy Allen Perez was killed in an accident near Poteet early Friday morning. A female passenger in the car with him was injured and taken to hospital.
Deputy Perez has been with the department since May 2022.
The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office released a statement, which read in part:
“Our prayers are with Vice Perez’s family, the injured woman and her family, and the driver of the second vehicle. Any official inquiries regarding the accident should be directed to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Office of Public Information in San Antonio .”
