Playing on the road doesn’t seem to affect football in North DeSoto.
Griffin (12-1) walks out of Griffin Stadium, heads south to face No. 1 Iowa State (11-2) in the LHSAA Unselected Division II semifinal and wins 38-9 . Each Griffin win adds to their school history. They haven’t made it to the Superdome since the school opened in the 1980s.
Luke Delafield threw a pair of TD passes to Trystan Hopper and Brian Banks, and Banks added a rushing score. Senior John Lewis and Marquez Hampton also scored and Landon Falls added a field goal.
Team Griffin will battle Lucher for the state title.

Many 32, St James 13: The Tigers (12-0) will head to their fourth straight state title game with a win over St. James’s (10-3). Trent Williams scored a three for Many, while Tackett Curtis added another TD and Deacon LaFollette scored a field goal. Many will face Union Parish in the title game.
Homer 38, Mangham 18: The Pelicans (10-3) will be in their second straight state title game after beating the Dragons (10-2). The Pelicans had a strong defense in the fourth quarter. Andrevious Buggs had three TDs, two passing and one rushing. Elyjay Curry also scored on a 20-yard run, while Katrevick Banks and BJ Hamilton caught TD passes. Jamarquese Hampton and Walteze Champ returned a TD fumble for the Pels.
The Pelicans will face Oak Grove (11-3) for the state title.
United Parish 28, Amite 8: The Fightin’ Farmers (12-1) will head to their third straight state title game with a win over Amite (10-4). Trey Holly, QB Jordan Hill and Jamarion Island rushed for touchdowns. Armani Harper scored on a blocked punt. The United Diocese will face first place for the state title.
Oak Grove 42, Hinesville 7: Golden Tornado (11-3) had four turnovers in their second meeting with Oak Grove (11-3) this season. The only score came from Alonzo Jackson in the fourth quarter. Oak Grove will meet Homer in the title game.
