Coimbatore: The National Highways Department is spending Rs 120 crore to extend the side of the Sungam Bypass from Valankulam, and the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation (CCMC) is planning to pave a new service road from Sivaram Nagar to Shanmuga Nagar along the lake to reduce road traffic. accident.

The Highways Department will pave a 500-meter service road from Sungam Interchange via Nehru Park to Sivaram Nagar and has asked CCMC to pave a service road from Sivaram Nagar via Pari Nagar to Shanmuga Nagar to avoid frequent accidents. The municipal agency has accepted the offer and will begin work soon.

According to sources, the municipal body has already demolished most of the road construction encroaching on the section from Nehru Park to Sivaram Nagar in Sector 65 of the Central District. “The eviction of the four houses is pending and once completed, the remaining encroachment will be removed and works can begin,” they added.

The person in charge of the Central Meteorological Bureau told new indian express, “A service road will be paved by the Civic Agency in Sivaram Nagar and will end near the KTM showroom at Sungam Bypass at a cost of Rs 5.2 lakh. This road will help prevent accidents with vehicles on the Tiruchy Road flyover.”
