BELMONT, N.C. — A man died Monday in an accident at a construction site involving an excavator.
Officers were called to Nixon Road in Belmont about 3:15 p.m. Monday to report an industrial incident
Mario Zambrano of Charlotte was found dead on a construction site, police said.
Investigators say Zambrano was involved in an excavator accident in which he died from his injuries.
The Belmont Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with more information is asked to contact Belmont Police at (704) 825-3792.

Zambrano’s death was another fatality among Charlotte-area Hispanic construction workers in January.

According to a report by the Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR), the death rate among U.S. Hispanic construction workers was 41.6 percent higher than non-Hispanic workers in 2020.
