The Redwood Region Audubon Society will be conducting a free guided field trip at the Arcata Swamp and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturdays from 8:30am to 11am

Grab your binoculars and meet leader Larry Karsteadt at the South I Street (Klopp Lake) end of Arcata to enjoy easy walking trails, beautiful views of Humboldt Bay, and a variety of winter birds including ducks, Shorebirds, birds of prey, pelicans and cormorants.

Friends of the Arcata Swamp are sponsoring free visits to the Arcata Swamp and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturdays.

Meet leader Sharon Levy in the lobby of the South G Street Interpretive Center at 2 p.m. for a 90-minute rain or shine walk focusing on marsh history, wastewater treatment, birds and/or ecology. Masks are strongly encouraged to be worn inside the building. For more information call 707-826-2359.

The Redwood Region Audubon Society is offering free guided bird watching tours on Sundays at Humboldt Inlet National Wildlife Refuge from 9am-11am

Meet tour leader Ralph Bucher at the visitor center for a two-mile walk along a wide, flat, gravel trail that’s easily accessible. Email Bucher to register at thebook@reninet.com.

Weekly Bingo

Bingo is held every Tuesday at the Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road, Eureka. Doors open at 5pm, snack bar available for games starting at 6pm.

About Family Tree

The Redwood Genealogical Society will hold a meeting on December 14th at 11:30 am at La Locha’s Restaurant, 751 S. Fortuna Blvd., Fortuna.

The show began at noon, with Gerry Hale talking about the four branches of his family: Haugh, Hale, Adorni and Ricci. The families traveled from Ireland, England and Tuscany to the United States before settling in Humboldt County.
The optional lunch includes two tacos, chips and a drink for $12 plus tax and tip.

The Redwood Curtain Brewing Company (550 South G St., Arcata) will be hosting a Pint of Nonprofit Day on December 14th from 11am-10pm to benefit Humboldt Homebrewers

“Stuffed Cruisers”

The Eureka Police Department will hold its annual “Cram the Cruiser” food drive on December 17th from 1-3 pm outside the grocery store at 625 Eureka Galleria. All donations benefit Food for People. For more information, please contact Suzie Owsley at 707-441-4371.

Humboldt Grange No. 501 will be holding a “Supplier Show and Gift Wrap Event” on December 17th from 9 am to 3 pm at the Grange Hall at 5845 Humboldt Hill Road.

The halls are filled with all kinds of handcrafted and manufactured items – from jewelry to soaps and lotions. Santa’s Workshop will also host a bake sale and raffle fundraiser.
