The 2022 Raiderette honors were officially announced at home against the New England Patriots in Week 15, which also happens to be Almedo’s birthday.
“I consider it my greatest honor to be selected by my teammates,” she said. “These are a group of women that I really like and respect. They are so inspiring both inside and outside of training. In fact, they chose me, respected me and trusted me enough to represent the entire team and organization at the Pro Bowl, the greatest honor of all.
“It’s a huge stage, our home stadium in Las Vegas. The fact that they think I’m going to be a great rep means absolutely the world to me.”
Raiderettes director Tiphanie McNiff has watched Almedo improve each year since entering the team and become her own captain. McNiff believes there’s no one more deserving of a Pro Bowl appearance this coming week than the Nevada native.
“Camryn embodies everything it means to be a Raiderette,” McNiff said. “She is a role model in the community, leading her teammates with grace and warmth. Camryn is poised, compassionate, talented and inspiring. Her teammates describe her as a mentor, someone they can turn to when they need it. Her dedication to the organization The enthusiasm is unmatched and we are all so proud of her for representing us and her home city.”
When asked what excites Almeido most about getting a front row seat at a Pro Bowl game, she said she sees how the five Raiders pro bowlers will handle the skill challenge, as well as seeing Dallas Cowboys returner Turpin — She has competed with TCU.
It must have been a surreal experience for the young dancer to attend the event and for all of her family and friends to see her perform “in the city where I first fell in love with dancing.”
