Ipswich Town: Adam Lambert opens new gym - fitness has a turning point

An Ipswich man is delighted to welcome the community to his new gym, a five-year project that has given traditional fitness a makeover.

Adam Lambert, 30, has just opened a new gym, Top 3rd Fitness, in the industrial estate of Alston Court on Leslie Road.

Mr Lambert hopes his new gym will offer a “win-win” strategy, matching potential clients with trainers who can help them on their fitness journey.

Four personal trainers currently use the space, each with their own area of expertise.

“It’s different from a commercial gym because a personal training session takes place in a private setting. It’s just you and the trainer,” explains Mr. Lambert.

Instead of applying for a membership or simply showing up, clients can schedule a time slot with one of the personal trainers through the app.

“We cater for everyone, from general fitness to specific rehabilitation work, martial arts and personal training,” continued Mr. Lambert. Self-defense classes are also offered.

Mr. Lambert teaches Muay Thai himself. He believes that the benefits of fitness can extend to emotional health and physical health.

“I can train anyone, from someone who is racing professionally, to a young guy who might be a little bit off the rails and needs someone to walk their way to guide them in the right direction,” he said.

“I really want to give back to the community, to those who lack the guidance they need. That translates to fitness.

“I’ve been working out for 15 years. Through every ups and downs of my life, working out has always allowed me to catch my breath and calm down.

“Finding peace amidst discomfort is something very unique and rewarding.”

The gym takes its name from Mr Lambert’s military experience, as he served with the British Army Rifles for nearly four years.

“The first third is military term,” he said. “No matter what you do, you have to be in the top three to get promoted. Whether it’s fitness or shooting, it’s your eyes.”

For five years he had wanted to start Top 3rd Fitness and was delighted that his dream had finally come true.
