DAYTON — It was an active Sunday on Miami Valley roads, with officials and medical personnel involved in at least three fatal crashes in the area.
>>1 woman confirmed dead after Trotwood accident
Brandon Lewis of News Center 7 said that as we head into the Christmas break, some families in Miami Valley have news no one expected.
Police and paramedics responded to a two-vehicle collision on Salem Avenue in Trotwood around 12:00 p.m. Sunday.
“Please get here as soon as possible,” a person who called 911 told dispatchers in a call obtained by News Center 7. “This lady has just been hit by this truck and she doesn’t look like she’s going to survive.”
A 73-year-old woman was killed in the crash, a Montgomery County Sheriff’s spokesman told Lewis.

According to Huber Heights police, the second crash occurred just after 7 a.m. on Northbound State Route 4 near Harshman Road when a utility worker was struck by a vehicle.
A spokesman told News Center 7 that the man was pulling power lines that were about to be installed.
The first fatal crash occurred around 2:00 a.m. Sunday when a truck was exiting on Interstate 70 west near US 40 in Harmony Township.
A 44-year-old driver was killed and another was injured, police officials said. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor.

“I think it’s very sad and unfortunate,” said Hannah German, of West Carrollton.
This is all as people prepare to celebrate the holidays with family and friends.
“Pray again that we open our eyes and realize the comings and goings, especially when we’re getting ready to go across the country to visit family, and we drive more carefully,” David Rich told Lewis.
“I really think we do need more police officers out on patrol this time of year, just because of all these accidents that are happening,” said James Hill of Huber Heights.
We will continue to provide updates on these fatal crashes.
