How to watch Army vs Navy 2022: TV channels, live stream online, football predictions, kick-off times

Of the many traditions that make college football special, perhaps none beats the annual Army-Navy game. It’s a game so special and unique that it earns a place on the schedule as the final game of the college football regular season. This Saturday, the two military academies will meet for the 123rd time at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.

The first meeting was held at West Point, New York, on November 29, 1890. The Academy met 30 times until 1927, then reconvened in 1930 after a two-year hiatus. Since then, the competition has not been interrupted. While Army dominated the competition for the majority of the time, Navy has since dominated and led the series 62-53-7. Navy won 14 straight from 2002-15 before Army won 21-17 in 2016, and the Black Knights have since won four of six. However, Navy finished last season with a 17-13 victory over the Cavaliers.

Army vs. Navy: Need to Know

The Commander-in-Chief trophy is not online: The trophy is awarded to the winner of the Army, Navy, Air Force round robin each season, but this game has no effect on the winner. The Air Force beat the Navy 13-10 and the Army 13-7 to capture the trophy for the first time since 2016. The Army has won or retained the trophy four of the past five seasons, and the Navy captured it in 2019.

One win won’t send Army to the bowl game: If the Army wins against the Navy, it will not only beat its opponent, but end the regular season with a three-game winning streak to reach a 6-6 record. However, that wasn’t enough to earn the Cavaliers bowl eligibility, as they had two wins against FCS opponents and only one of the six wins needed to count towards bowl eligibility. So, no matter what happens on Saturday, it’s the final game of the season for both teams.

Navy has improved this season: The Navy got off to a poor start to the season, with the Midshipmen losing their first game to Delaware 14-7 and followed by a 37-13 loss to Memphis. Navy would go 2-5 before the turn. A 27-20 overtime win over Temple followed by a close loss to Cincinnati on the road. A week later, the Mids narrowly beat Notre Dame 35-32. Then they did achieve the upset they were looking for by beating UCF 17-14 in Orlando. Don’t let the 4-7 record fool you.
