Golf show, functional fitness facility opens in Fort Myers

Thunder Performance, a functional fitness and golf performance facility, recently celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by SWFL Inc. The 3,400-square-foot facility is located at 17081 Cam Court Units 3 and 4 in Fort Myers.

Founded by PGA pro Thor Parrish and local gym owner David Alfonso, Thunder Performance prides itself on having people who are willing to work hard to achieve excellence in life and sport. A professional coaching team of seven certified coaches and a one-stop service facility provide athletes with the optimal training resources to achieve their goals and recover optimally so they can continue to do so for many years to come.

As a PGA professional, Mr. Parrish wanted to combine his love of fitness and golf. None of the local facilities had the tools and resources he needed to train his golfers in all aspects of the game on and off the course. So he built it himself. In addition to Thunder Performance’s 3,000 feet of open gym space, where Mr. Parrish can train his golfers one-on-one or encourage them to take group lessons, the facility also features what he calls a “golf lab,” complete with a Trackman performance studio .

Being a Thunder Performance member doesn’t just benefit golfers. Athletes of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join the gym’s CrossFit group classes, receive personal training, or work out during gym opening hours. Thunder Performance also uniquely offers women’s weightlifting classes where women can improve their weightlifting skills in an inclusive, low-pressure environment led by Level 1 CrossFit Coach, Burgener Strength Coach and Mr. Parrish’s wife, Jenny Parrish.

Additionally, Orlando Harvard, DPT, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Professionals call Thunder Performance home. Here, he works with athletes of all ages recovering from injuries and surgeries to get them back to their best form. He received his Ph.D. in Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh, specializing in Sports Orthopedics, Concussion, and Vestibular Therapy. Harvard is passionate about bringing the best and most effective evidence-based treatment techniques to all of his clients and patients.

Thunder Performance not only emphasizes hard training, but also optimal recovery. The facility’s recovery rooms feature ice baths and Hyperice compression therapy, so members can get back to hard work faster.

“Our entire team of professional staff and coaches is excited to be making a lasting impact on the fitness community in Southwest Florida,” said Mr. Parrish. “Our facility is a one-stop shop for fitness, rehab and a hard-working member community. In the months and years ahead, watch how Thunder Performance can help you exceed your goals.”

Thunder Performance offers CrossFit group classes, personal training, golf instruction, physical therapy, nutritional coaching, recovery services, cold exposure therapy, and more. Thunder Performance memberships start at $155 per month. For more information, visit www.thunderperformance. fit. ¦
