KASUR: At least four people were killed and 12 others were injured in accidents on different roads on Tuesday due to low visibility due to heavy fog covering the plains of Punjab.
In the first incident, three members of a family were killed and 11 others were injured when their car overturned in dense fog on Multan Road near Arien Model Farm.
The family was returning to Ocala from Lahore after attending the wedding.
After the accident, several other vehicles also collided. The motorist suffered minor injuries and was given first aid by paramedics.
According to Rescue 1122, a van carrying 14 family members traveled from Lahore to Ocala on Tuesday as thick fog shrouded the national highway.
Ashraf Ali and his sister Rani Bibi died at the scene while the others were rushed to Pattoki THQ Hospital. The four injured, including Mohammad Aslam, Samina Bibi, Abdul Razak and Akram, were transferred to Jinnah Hospital in Lahore in critical condition. However, Aslam succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital. Police are investigating the matter.
NAROWAL: The driver of a school bus picking up students was seriously injured when he was hit by a train Lasani Express at a level crossing near Domara railway station due to heavy fog on Tuesday morning.
According to Rescue 1122 spokesman Hurmat Ali, when the Lasani Express was traveling from Sialkot to Narowal and arrived near the Domala railway station, a roller coaster that was picking up students from Domala to Noonar Road was crossing the track without gates.
Drivers could not see the train that hit the vehicle because of the fog, he said. As a result, the driver, Amir Ali (29 years old), was seriously injured.
After receiving the accident notification, the 1122 rescue team rushed to the scene, gave first aid to the driver, and transferred him to the Narowal Regional Headquarters Hospital.
According to the doctor on duty in the emergency ward of DHQ Hospital, the driver was referred to a hospital in Lahore because of his critical condition.
TOBA TEK SINGH: A Fesco employee died when his motorcycle hit a pickup truck parked on Jarranwala Road near Al-Shifa Hospital.
Muhammad Aqeel, 48, was on his way to his office when the accident happened due to heavy fog.
