Edmundo Hernandez killed in two-car crash at Newland Street and Trask Avenue
Westminster, CA (December 19, 2022) — Edmundo Hernandez Died in two crashes on Newland Street and Trask Avenue.
The fatal two-vehicle collision occurred around 10:00 a.m. Friday, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. For unknown reasons, a driver of a Chevrolet Camaro failed to back down before a traffic stop as police pursued the driver for his fraudulent tags. The driver reportedly ran a red light a block away and crashed into a black BMW driven by 64-year-old Edmundo L. Hernandez.
Paramedics arrived shortly after and rushed Hernandez and his 54-year-old male passenger to the hospital where Hernandez died.
The driver of the Camaro reportedly left on foot but was detained after an hours-long search at Westminster and Garden Grove police stations.
During the investigation, authorities learned that alcohol was a factor in the accident. Although, the investigation should clarify more information.
