8 dead and 4 injured in traffic accident

Eight people were killed and four others were injured in road accidents in Jhenaidah, Sherpur, Feni and Jashore districts on Friday and Saturday.

Three people were killed in two traffic accidents in Koiargachi, Sardar Upazila and Murotola, Shailkupa upazila, Jhenaidah on Saturday, Bangladesh Associated Press reported.

The dead were identified as Shakil Hossain, 22, Rakib Hossain Rocky, 21, and Tushar Biswas, 35.

Sheikh Mohammed Sohel Rana, superintendent of Jhenaidah Sadar police station, said Shakil and Rakib were going to Jhenaidah town by motorbike.

They were killed instantly when a truck laden with bricks hit their motorcycle in Koiargachi on the Jhenidah-Jashore highway.

In a separate incident, another motorcyclist Tushar was seriously injured after a bus on Golden Line Paribahan hit his motorbike, Shailakupa police OC Aminul Islam said.

Locals took him to Upazila Medical Center where he died.

In Sherpur, three people including a man and his son were killed when a truck collided with an auto rickshaw on Sherpur-Bongaon Road in Tatalpur district of Sherpur sadar upazila on Friday night, UNB reported. Injuried.

Among the dead, two were identified as Rafiq Miah, 48, and his son Rabbi Miah, 12, from Dohalia village in Jhinaigati upazila.

According to the police, the accident happened around 7:30 pm when the truck collided with the motor rickshaw, killing three people at the scene and seriously injuring three others including the driver of the motor vehicle, said OC Basir Ahmed of Sadar police station OC.

A 15-year-old male student named Ashraful Hauqe Fahim was killed in a car accident in Panchgachia Bazar, sadar upazila, Feni on Friday night, Feni’s New Times reporter reported.

The deceased was a resident of Mathiara village under the Panchgachia Union and a ninth grade student of AZ Khan Memorial School and College.

Feni Model Police Superintendent Md Nizam Uddin said a passenger vehicle belonging to Jonaki Paribahan hit Farhim’s motorcycle during the accident, resulting in his death at the scene.

The OC added that legal action is being taken in this regard.

A 24-year-old woman riding a bicycle was killed and her husband was seriously injured in a car accident in Jashore’s Manirampur upazila on Friday, UNB reported.

The deceased was Shirin Akter Kona, wife of Ruhul Quddus, a resident of Upaziratajpur village.

OC of Manirampur Police Station Sheikh Mohammad Moniruzzaman said the accident happened around 11:00 am near the Muragachha Bazaar when the motorcycle carrying the couple hit a A truck coming from the opposite direction injured two people.

The OC added that locals took them to Jashore General Hospital, where doctors pronounced Kona dead.
