Karachi:
Throughout the year, a total of 215 traffic accidents occurred in the city, killing more than 180 people and injuring more than 150 people.
The western district had the most traffic accidents, with 91 cases in total, resulting in 69 deaths and 77 injuries. Likewise, 41 people were killed and 10 others were injured in collisions with trucks.
The highest number of 141 accidents involved motorcycles, with 110 fatalities, 130 fatalities and 84 injuries.
According to traffic police statistics, from January 1 to November 27, 2022, 215 traffic accidents occurred in different areas of the city, resulting in a total of 184 deaths and 152 injuries.
The west traffic area had the most traffic accidents, with 91 cases in total, 69 people were killed and 77 people were injured. In the Mariel district, 36 traffic accidents occurred, 34 of which resulted in 41 deaths and 29 injuries. According to the data, there were 26 traffic accidents in the eastern district traffic management area, resulting in 21 deaths and 13 injuries. Similarly, a total of 19 traffic accidents occurred in the Central District, resulting in 18 deaths and 9 injuries. A total of 17 traffic accidents occurred in Korangi, resulting in 14 deaths and nine injuries. There were more than 20 traffic accidents in the southern district, resulting in 16 deaths and 12 injuries; 6 traffic accidents occurred in the urban area, resulting in 3 injuries.
According to traffic police statistics, there were as many as 35 traffic accidents in which trucks collided, resulting in 41 deaths and 10 injuries. Similarly, 23 traffic accidents occurred due to collisions with trailers, resulting in 20 deaths and 15 injuries. A total of 21 water tank truck collision accidents occurred, resulting in 14 deaths and 16 injuries. There were 17 collisions with dump trucks, resulting in 15 deaths and 8 injuries; 17 collisions with oil tankers, resulting in 15 deaths and 19 injuries.
A total of 14 traffic accidents collided with buses, resulting in 12 deaths and 4 injuries. Among them, there were 16 minibus collision accidents, with 12 deaths and 31 injuries; 8 bus collision accidents, with 5 deaths.
According to the data, 23 traffic accidents were caused by collisions between cars and jeeps, resulting in 19 deaths and 16 injuries. A total of 20 traffic accidents occurred due to collisions with unknown vehicles, resulting in 20 deaths and 5 injuries.
There were as many as 10 motorcycle collisions, resulting in 4 deaths and 5 injuries. Similarly, six people were killed and nine were injured in 10 accidents involving collisions with Suzuki pickups. Motorcyclists are the most reported victims of traffic accidents. The data shows that among the 141 motorcycle traffic accidents that occurred throughout the year, 110 died, a total of 130 citizens died and 84 were injured.
