Moda, New York Square in Leeds is getting a new Sainsbury's Local – Sainsbury's

Residents of the brand new Leeds rental quarter Moda, New York Square, were welcomed through the doors of Sainsbury’s newest Local this morning following the opening of the retailer’s latest store in the heart of Leeds.

The 2,355 sq ft store is conveniently located in a brand new building in the SOYO Leeds regeneration area and will serve the local community between 7am and 11pm, seven days a week. Customers will be able to pick up high quality and value grocery and household items from fresh fruit and vegetables and food to go, to sweet, savory and frozen staples. They can also enjoy a hot drink from a self-service Costa coffee machine in store.

A Click & Collect service will also be available for customers to collect online orders from much-loved brands Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing.

The colleagues who make up the new store team will play an active role in the local community, while also participating in Sainsbury’s nationwide charitable programs and initiatives. Through Sainsbury’s partnership with Neighbourly, for example, the new store will work with local food donation partners to ensure surplus food from the store goes to those who need it most.

Moda, New York Square is a major new residential development at SOYO Leeds, with 515 new homes exclusively for rent alongside a host of facilities including a 24-hour gym, private dining, resident lounges, roof terraces, co-working space and a cinema room. The homes in the pet-friendly neighborhood, operated by Moda Living, come with interior design, sustainable furniture and energy-efficient electronics and appliances.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said:
“The vibrant new SOYO precinct in Leeds city center is the perfect place for us to open our newest store and we’re delighted to cut the cord today. Not only will we be helping and servicing local residents, but we’re also creating new jobs for area. We have invested in the SOYO store to create a fresh, modern and convenient place for local residents to pick up their essentials and we look forward to hearing what they think.”

Dane Underwood, Sainsbury’s SOYO Local Store Manager, said: “We are proud to welcome customers through the doors of our brand new store today after working so hard to get everything ready for the opening. The Moda, New York Square development is an exciting place to be and we look forward to being a part of the local community and serving nearby residents for many years to come.”

This latest pay rise comes on top of the £20m Sainsbury’s invested in October, bringing the total to £205m and recognizing the extraordinary hard work of colleagues.
