About six years ago, Springfieldian Kari Manzardo promised her children, Andrew and August, and her daughter-in-law, Katie, that she would write a cookbook. “They knew how often I cook,” she says. “And I wanted to give them something of mine that I created that I could share with them for years to come.”
cookbook, All in one day: Recipes inspired by family, friends and the outdoors is representative of everything Manzardo loves. Manzardo spends most of his time with his children and grandchildren, hunting, cooking and spending time outdoors.
Manzardo decided that she wanted 100% of the book’s proceeds to go to charity. “It made it more rewarding for me in the end,” she says. “I feel so lucky because I was never meant to bring attention to the book. It was only intended for my children, but I found large groups of people who wanted to help.”
Local restaurants Char Steakhouse & Oyster Bar, Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes and Flame Steakhouse and Wine Bar have teamed up with 4 the Love of K9s, a foster animal shelter in Springfield, to raise money for our local pups.
