BCSC opens summer meal program

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. is offering free meals to children starting Wednesday and continuing through July 28 through the Summer Food Service Program.

A list of BCSC meal locations and dates is available in Spanish as well as English at bcscschools.org. For more information, call the Food Services Department at 812-376-4224 or Director of Food Services Nancy Millspaugh at 812-376-4462.

Meals will be delivered on a first-come, first-served basis at the following locations:

  • Youth Fund (24 May to 2 August) — Breakfast from 7.30-8.30 and lunch from 11.00 to 12.30 Closed on 29 May and 4 July.
  • Donner Park (June 12 to July 28) — Lunch from 1:30-2pm June 22, The Commons June 29 and Bowling Center July 20.
  • Columbus North High School (May 30 to July 21) — Breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and Lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Enter door #1 and go to the cafeteria. Closed June 19 and July 4.
  • Heritage Heights Playground (May 30 to July 21) — Lunch from 11 am to 1 pm Closed June 19 and July 4.
  • Smith Elementary (May 30 to July 28) — Breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closed June 19 and July 4.
  • Taylorsville Elementary (July 24 through July 28) — Breakfast from 7:45-8 and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Clifty Creek Elementary (July 24 to July 28) — Breakfast from 7:45-8 and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Schmitt Elementary (July 24 through July 28) — Breakfast from 7:45-8 and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Candlelight Mobile Home Park, Clubhouse Picnic Area (May 30 to July 21) — Lunch from 11 am to 1 pm Closed June 19 and July 4.
  • Central Middle School (May 30 to July 28) — Breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closed June 19, July 3 and July 4.
  • Ashford Park Apartments (May 30 to July 21) — Lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Closed June 19, July 3 and July 4.

Free meals will be available to all children 18 years of age and younger, as well as persons over 18 who are enrolled in a state-approved educational program for the mentally or physically handicapped. Otherwise, adults can purchase meals for $2.20 for breakfast and $4.60 for lunch. Meals must be taken on site.

Individuals who require alternative means of communication to obtain program information (such as Braille, large print, audiotape, or American Sign Language) should contact the responsible state or local agency administering the program, the USDA TARGET Center at 202-720-2600 ( for voice and TTY), or USDA via the Federal Relay Service at 800-877-8339.
